I am Rupali Tilve, currently residing in beautiful Central California. I was born and raised in India until the age of 11, upon which my family immigrated to Orange County, California. I completed my middle school, high school and college in Orange County, California. While going to college I joined the US Army Reserves, served for 8 years and went from green to gold in ranks. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Workforce Education. Upon which I joined Corporate America and worked in Diagnostics / Clinical Trials / Pharmaceutical sector. I excelled quickly in the corporate sector with succession plan to excel into the CEO role in next 5 years. In late 2019, life had a different (bigger) plan for me, I got married, right after my husband got critically ill, COVID happened, I had to leave my ambitious thriving career behind, moved to Central California and started all over again in a new career field - Healthcare.
One thing I have learned is you have to trust the process of life and believe in yourself. I knew change was not going to be easy, but I was left with no choice but to face it. I knew I had 15 + years of leadership, operational excellence experience, and education which would help me overcome new career field obstacles. First, I had to focus on my marriage and helping my husband get back his health and get him on his two feet and second dedicating all the remainder time learning the new career field Healthcare. In the past three years, I worked day and night to learn and understand the healthcare sector. And now I am pleased to say I have been promoted to the executive level; work satisfaction is at an all-time high.
The reasons I decided attending National University and pursue my master’s in public health is for multiple reasons:
1. Convenience: being a caretaker and full-time executive comes with its own time restraints. I chose virtual the sector of National University for convenience. The classes are one month long, and all the lectures are recorded. Therefore, if I am not able to attend the class at the given time, I can watch the lectures later in the night or the next day.
2. Career Advancement: as I mentioned, I changed careers during a pandemic. Though I have excelled in an executive position; I would still like to pursue further education to learn, understand and make a positive impact in the healthcare industry.
3. Personal Fulfillment: I am a life long learner. New ideas, space, people, problems, and environment excite me and therefore it propels me to learn. The learning at the University is formal (getting a degree) and do informal (going on YouTube / listening to podcast / watching TedX…etc.).
The purpose of this post is for one to believe in this called LIFE. Not everyone is given every opportunity on a silver spoon. Sometimes life happens to the best of us, we fail, we have to take a detour, we have to try harder than anyone, but overall life will give you what you put in one day. In hindsight so much has happened to me over the past 4 years, but I have survived, and I am now in a better place personally, professionally, and educationally. I am shy of three classes from getting my degree and I can say with almost all A’s.
Stay strong and keep on going!!!
